Embassy 'B's 10-0 defeat of Nemesis 'A' enabled the Bingley team to leapfrog into second place, level with Oakbank in the Keighley & District Table Tennis League First Division.

Tony Boyd was pushed to three by Dave Newberry 21-19, 20-22, 21-8 and Keith Lee was similarly extended by Jim Lister 21-9, 16-21, 21-18, but the remainder of the match proved to be a formality for Boyd, Lee and Ziggy Cwiklinski against what was very much a Nemesis second string.

Lothersdale 'A' had a fine win at Nelson Nomads. Keith Wilkinson took his season's tally to 25 from 33 with a max that included a 16-21, 21-16, 21-13 win against Ian Beecroft who worked hard for the losers, going down also in three to David Adams before nicking one against Tim Boothman 19-21, 21-14, 21-17 who in turn fell to David Ayrton 21-17, 21-9. An Adams full house plus a doubles win for Wilkinson and Adams 21-17, 19-21, 21-18 against Ayrton and Michael Wrigley ensured an 8-2 scoreline in favour of the dales men.

Nemesis 'B' look to have taken a stranglehold at the top of Division Two following their impressive 10-0 win at Wilsden. George Fletcher pushed Dave Manogue to three 20-22, 21-18, 21-19 as did Dave Broadbent 21-14, 19-21, 21-15 but that was as good as it got for the villagers as the champions elect cruised home.

Although second placed Ilkley Road 'B' also tasted victory, they certainly didn't have it all their own way at Oakworth. Ben Lowe played well for the home team, defeating Steve Fuller 21-17, 21-10 and Geoff Bartlett 21-18, 21-11 and Steve Smith also sneaked one, 20-22, 21-19, 21-12 against Fuller. However, Roy Towler held the show together for the Riddlesden team with yet another good display that netted him a full house and a 7-3 win for his team with his best performance coming with a 21-7, 21-16 win against Lowe.

St Peter's found themselves up against Haleem Ishaq, Haworth 'A's new shining light. Playing only his third match of the season, the Haworth player took his tally to 6 from 9, a return that would suggest that had he played more often his team may not be in the precarious position they now find themselves. The 21-15, 21-15 defeat of Paul Griffin was more than matched by a fine 21-11, 21-8 win against Richard Foster. However, Tony Richardson used all his experience to defeat Ishaq 21-18, 21-19 on his way to a well deserved treble and his team to a narrow 6-4 victory.

Only Paul Lister's 23-21, 21-18 defeat of Jack Anderson stopped Cononley Sports from being whitewashed by a powerful Lothersdale 'C' outfit who had Richard Crookes back on song with a max that included the defeat of Stuart Maude 21-17, 13-21, 21-12. The ever improving Martin Mulligan took his tally to 21 from 29 with another faultless display that included the 21-17, 23-21 defeat of Lister along the way in the visitor's 9-1 victory.

In Division Three, two 10-0 victories for the top two teams keeps them 17 points ahead of Crossflatts 'A' in third spot with Ilkley Road 'B' leading Johnson & Johnson by 7 points at the top. The leaders enjoyed a fruitful evening at home to St Wilf's 'A' who were no match for Nick Emblem, Rob McLean and Chris Dunn, whereas St Wilf's 'B', playing host to J&J, fared no better than their 'B' team.

However, the two St Wilf's teams were also involved in a derby match this week that resulted in a 9-1 win for the 'A' team's John Mitchell, Will Lister and Andrew Clarke. Despite the scoreline, many of the games were extremely close. Mitchell just pipped Alex Brough 21-17, 19-21, 21-17, Clarke did likewise 19-21, 23-21, 21-14 against David Anderson and Doreen Anderson deservedly earned her side's only point with her best performance of the season so far, 14-21, 21-15, 22-20 against Lister.

Haworth 'B' maintained their comfortable mid-table position with a good win at South Craven. Tom Hagyard's treble included a win against Edward Jagger 21-12, 21-15 and Ronnie Farrar, also with a full house, defeated Chris Airey 21-15, 21-13. Nevertheless, it was these two South Craven players who earned their team its couple of points with a win for Airey 11-21, 21-11, 21-18 against David Ogden and Jagger's 15-21, 21-14, 21-8 success against the same player.
