Silsden swept into the semi-final of the West Riding Challenge Cup -- with a 5-1 victory over Storthes Hall.

They now face a tough tie against Horsforth St Margarets as they bid to reach the final and a chance to retain the title they won last season.

Fans travelled to Huddersfield to support the Cobbydale outfit, but they were just one goal up against Storthes, who have a tremendous history in the County Cup, after a tough first half. Matthew Bland scored the opener from eight yards, but it gave little warning of what was to come after the break.

On the re-start Silsden looked a changed team and totally dominated the game. The cup holders were too strong and too fast for Storthes and Bland scored his second to start the goals flowing.

Jimmy Spencer broke from half way and took advantage of a one-on-one with the keeper.

A lapse in defence allowed Storthes to score their only goal of the game, but Silsden maintained their constant pressure and Mick Ward captalised with two goals.

The previous week they represented West Riding against the East Riding in the Northern Counties Cup at Woodlesford and slipped to a 2-1 despite a superb performance.

Silsden held the East Riding representative side in a goalless first half and Jimmy Hedges broke the deadlock in tthe second period. Silsden missed a number of chances and were punished when the visitors scored with 15 minutes to go and added a winner with four minutes on the clock.

Silsden Reserves were also on top form in the Reserve Division Cup, beating Heckmondwike Town 9-1 with goals from Lee Reilly (4), Andy nelson (2), Graham Whittaker, Adam Hook and Mark Whitaker.

Keighley Shamrocks slipped to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Stump Cross in Division One of the County Amateur League.

Steeton Reserves beat Keighley Shamrocks Reserves 6-2 in their derby clash. Steeton's scorers were Joley ali, Ashley Nettleton, Ian Craven, Steven Hardaker, Gavin Baker and Simon Perryman.
