CYCLIST David Broadley has been selected for the Great Britain Under-16 youth team.
David (above), who was recently spotted a potential star of the the future and invited to join British Cycling's World Class Start programme, is to take part in trials for the 2003 Youth Olympic Festival when over 3,000 young athletes from 48 countries will descend on Paris.
The final selection will take pace after a series of six circuit races which are being held throughout England and Scotland in April and May. The best four events will count towards the rider's score and the top two will go to Paris, with the third place open to the Team Manager's choice.
David is a student at Oakbank Sports College and he has been joined on the Wold Class Start programme by fewllow student Joshua Ainsworth. He has successfully negotiated the three stage selection programme run by British Cycling which is designed to spot future Olympic Champions.
