IT WAS great to see - and hear - the Cougar Army in great voice at Dewsbury last weekend.

They put the home supporters to shame and all our players said how the 'Cougar Roar' really gave them a lift. For one or two of the lads it was the first time they had heard the crowd really get behind the team, and they loved it.

So a big 'thankyou' from me to all who made the trip on a terrible afternoon - keep it up.

AFTER the game we spent an hour with former Keighley prop forward Alan Wood at his public house the Flatt Top in Dewsbury.

Woody was a real tough customer and was substitute in the Keighley side that reached the semi-final of the Challenge Cup back in 1976.

I was a youngster among the huge Keighley support at Huddersfield's old Fartown ground on that day when they came up against St Helens.

After a terrific effort Keighley just missed out on a trip to Wembley, losing by the narrowest margin, 5-4.

WE ALSO met up again with the lads from Thornhill who were at Alan's place. The pub was a real Who's Who of rugby league.

Propping up the bar were former players Jack Austin, Ian Ellis and Dave Briggs. When Rammy's dad, Terry Ramshaw, walked in it looked like we could have a cracking game of touch and pass in the car park with our Cougars v Dad's Army (no offence Terry).

I think we might just have edged the rugby, but with Woody, Jack, Terry and Ian about I'm not sure who would have handled any rough stuff!

SPARE a thought for Kerry Moses (Paul's missus), not only does she have to put up with being a Rugby League 'widow', but all three men in her life are soccer fanatics - and they all support different teams.

Mossy is a big Burnley fan, eldest son Daniel is a Leeds man and the youngest, Mathew, is a Man Utd fan.

Last weekend Mathew went with a school friend to watch the Clarets against Reading and Mossy swears he wished them bad luck as they went down 5-2.

He has now banned Moses jnr from any further visits to Turf Moor!
