BARNOLDSWICK United have been drawn against West Riding County Amateur side Littletown in the semi-finals of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup, while holders Silsden face a re-match of last season's quarter-final when they take on Horsforth St Margaret's from the West Yorkshire league.
The ties will be played at the County FA head-quarters at Woodlesford, near Leeds, on Friday, April 4 and 11, but which tie will be played on which date had not yet been finalised.
Littletown's league form in the County Amateur has not been especially impressive this season, but their 3-1 win over Tyersal in the quarter-final underlines that United cannot afford to take them lightly.
"We're just pleased to have avoided Silsden at this stage," says United manager Tony Bradshaw. "We've watched them play this season and we see them as the strongest of the other sides still involved.
"We've never got beyond the second round before, so we're into uncharted waters. On the league front we're having our best season since we got into the Premier Division of the West Lancashire League. In the past we've been looking over our shoulders at this stage of the season, but now we're looking to how high we can finish, which confirms that we are making progress.
"We have the best squad we've had since I've been at the club and we're playing well at a good level."
Silsden will have no misapprehensions about taking on the Horsforth side, who will be keen to obtain revenge for their defeat last season.
Some observers felt that had the Leeds side stuck to a footballing policy rather than turning to a physical approach, they might well have won that game, but Silsden's footballing skills prevailed and they went on to take the trophy.
Silsden will be hoping to get another senior side into the semi-finals on Sunday when Silsden Sunday entertain Rawdon Sunday in a postponed Sunday Trophy quarter-final. Winners of that tie will take on Woodlands Raiders in the semi-finals, which are scheduled for Thursday, March 27 and Thursday, April 1.
If the seniors can do their stuff, Silsden Under 14s could be the third part of a unique treble, for they are into the semi-finals of the Junior Trophy after their 6-0 demolition of Thornes Juniors in the quarter-finals.
They await the winners of the postponed tie between Bolton Woods and Tadcaster Albion, which goes ahead on Sunday.
