Shontayne Hape's mission for 2003 is to make Lesley Vainikolo Super League's top try-scorer.

The Bulls' new recruit grabbed a 74th-minute try to cap a memorable debut in the 38-12 second-half destruction of Warrington.

But perhaps more importantly, he helped unleash the Volcano on several occasions in Saturday's Challenge Cup fourth-round victory.

And Hape, who played junior Kiwi rugby with Vainikolo, wants his winger to keep scoring tries.

"I want Lesley to be top try-scorer," said the 21-year-old centre, pictured.

"Because if he is it means I am doing my job well. We have a good relationship on and off the field and I think we are combining real well.

"If he doesn't get top try-scorer, then I would like to do. It was a real relief to score. I had been telling everyone in the dressing room that I wanted to get over that whitewash and it was great to do it."

And the Volcano, who grabbed a brace of tries as the Bulls turned up the heat in the second half of their victory over the brave Wolves, loves playing with Hape inside him.

"We are good for each other," said the Volcano, who collected an amazing Hape head-height off-load to burst over the line for his first after 42 minutes. "I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship."

And coach Brian Noble is impressed with the partnership that is being formed between the two players.

"I think Shontayne is good for him," said Noble. "Shontayne is impressing everyone here. He has quick feet and quick hands for a big guy, he is a special talent."

The Bulls go into today's fifth round draw with Noble believing the side are capable of a lot more.

"We have only had one hit-out this year while others side may have played two games," he added.

"I think it took the first-half to get rid of some of the rustiness and we set our own tempo after the break."

Keighley Cougars' Challenge Cup dream was cruelly shattered by a 77th minute drop goal at Sheffield yesterday. Keighley fought back from 24-8 down to tie the game with eight minutes still on the clock but Richard Goddard stepped up in the dying moments to send over the decisive point.
