Eamonn Magee has priced himself out of a showdown with Bradford's Junior Witter.

The Irishman couldn't agree terms with Frank Warren to face Witter in Manchester on April 5.

Witter will still head the Ricky Hatton undercard at the MEN Arena but against a different opponent. Magee has instead decided to chase the European light-welter title.

Witter's manager John Ingle said: "There was a lot of talk from Magee's camp and his manager thought it was a done deal. But that's not going to happen now."

Witter, closing in on a summer showdown with Hatton, could fight Belgian Jurgen Haeck for the lightly-regarded EU belt or Magee victim, South African Matthews Zulu.

The 28-year-old from Johannesburg took Magee the distance in an unsuccessful Commonwealth bid in Manchester in October 2001. Zulu, who has 17 wins in 26 attempts, lost to Liverpool's David Burke in his first fight away from home five months before.

He was beaten this time a year ago by European champion Oktay Urkal in Germany but only on points over eight rounds.

Haeck, 31, has lost only once in 16 paid-for fights. He won the newly-invented EU crown, of which James Hare briefly held the welter version, with a second-round knock-out of Frenchman Christophe Carlier.

Meanwhile, Bradford will play host to another Ingle show on Sunday, April 13.

It has been confirmed that Pennington's in Manningham will stage the next bill featuring city boxers Nadeem Siddique, Donovan Smillie and Nathan Joseph. Welterweight Chris Saunders will head the bill in a re-match with Richard Swallow, possibly for the British Masters crown.
