Castles Shopfitters has invested £250,000 in new equipment.

Last year the Bradford-based business revealed it was set to create 50 new jobs after it announced it was investing £1.3 million in new premises on the outskirts of the city.

The firm, which has a turnover of £13, million, moved from its 30,000 square foot Wigan Street location last summer to new 70,000 square feet premises on Bowland Street.

The new machinery will allow the business, which undertakes a variety of work including general shopfitting, to increase its operational efficiencies and manufacturing capacity.

David Henry, managing director of Castles, said: "The business has grown significantly over the past ten years and in order to continue with the development and expansion of the company it was vital that we improved areas of production.

"One of our simple philosophies is to ensure that our clients do not notice the change and that their expectations are continually met.

"The recent investment is a testimony to the forward planning that has resulted in the impressive performance that the company has achieved."

The firm, which currently employs more than 150 people, expects turnover for the coming year to hit the £20 million mark.

Mr Henry added: "In order for us to achieve our plans for the future and to continue to meet the demands of our client base it was essential we relocate to larger premises.

"We have basically outgrown Wigan Street and as a Bradford-based company we needed to find a suitable location within the city."

The firm's new site which used to house the old Polar Garage, also has a purpose built joiners shop.

Castles said it expects to increase turnover by 25 to 40 per cent year on year over the next three years.

Mr Henry said: "The future of Castles is extremely bright with all our clients looking at big development programmes for the coming years."
