Whisper it quietly but Aidan Davison is feeling fit and healthy.

In a campaign when City's squad has featured seven different goalkeepers, Davison believes he is in tip-top form.

And he has even survived a whole 90 minutes against Coventry.

That was some feat for the 34-year-old, considering he was injured in each of the two previous encounters with the Sky Blues.

Last season's trip to Highfield Road just before Christmas ruled him out the remainder of the season. Then in September, he pulled a calf making a clearance during the game at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium and had to limp gingerly off the field.

So making it unscathed through last week's 2-0 win was a notable achievement.

As Davison admitted: "I'm not that superstitious but it was on my mind before the game what had happened the last couple of times. Luckily I got through it without a problem.

"Last season cost me seven months out so it's obviously very nice to be playing regularly again and feeling good.

"The injuries have been ridiculous this season and to have so many keepers out is a one off.

"But you've got to look at the position the club was in financially. Normally you would carry three keepers on the books but that wasn't possible.

"So we've had to chop and change goalkeepers, although it still feels as if there is something of a curse."

The much-travelled Davison notched up his 200th league start at Wimbledon three weeks ago. But amazingly this current run is the longest he has enjoyed in the City first team.

Tomorrow will be his 13th successive game since replacing on-loan rookie Boaz Myhill, a keeper he rates highly, and Davison is looking for another water-tight defensive display as he bids for his sixth clean sheet of the season.

He said: "Walsall will be firing all guns because they need a result. Losing to Stoke was terrible for them and they may feel a draw is no good.

"It was a tough, physical game down there at the beginning of the season but we got the result and we're good enough to do the same again.

"We've improved defensively but that comes from playing together regularly and knowing each other's games. It's also great to see Dave Wetherall back, he's such a strong defender and got through 90 pretty physical minutes last week without any reaction.

"It has also helped us that the lads up front are doing well and scoring goals. There's nothing worse than knowing you won't score and you're under big pressure to keep a clean sheet every time just to get a draw.

"But the lads are performing well in that department which gives us the chance to do our half of the bargain. We've always had the quality to get out of trouble but you need to put in the work."
