Keighley man Joe Tretton has sailed through the initial phase of officer training at Britannia Royal Naval College in his bid to become a warfare officer.
Joe, 22, a former pupil of Ermysted's Grammar School at Skipton, joined the Royal Navy in January last year after graduating from the University of Wales, Bangor, with a degree in geographical oceanography.
The course at BRNC has been at a hectic pace, including two months at sea in the Type 22 frigate HMS Chatham. The ship was operating in the Baltic, and the time on board provided Joe with an excellent introduction to all aspects of life on board a fully operational warship.
Joe's parents, Keith and Rita Tretton, travelled to Dartmouth to witness the passing out parade.
Sub-Lieutenant Tretton has now returned to HMS Chatham for further fleet training.
