Hundreds of Bradford's children in care and their foster parents will watch Bradford Bulls matches this season for free.

The team, which plays its first home game at Odsal on Sunday, March 9, against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, is sponsoring the Bradford Adoption and Foster Care Unit as part of its commitment to the community.

Chris Rostron, Bulls community services manager, said: "We are a family orientated club and we take our responsibilities to the Bradford community very seriously.

"Bradford Adoption and Fostering Unit is working very hard to recruit carers who will provide suitable loving homes for children in care in the city and we hope our support will help raise awareness for this need.

"We have worked with the Fostering Unit before and we see this as an obvious extension to our commitment to children and families in Bradford in light of the club's return to Odsal Stadium, which will see a return to the family entertainment we are famous for."

There are about 800 children and young people in care in the district, 300 of whom are with foster parents.

Councillor Kris Hopkins, executive member for the community, was delighted with the Bulls' offer.

"Foster parents and the vulnerable young people they care for need support in all sorts of ways.

"This will give them a chance to enjoy an afternoon out together and offer their support to the Bulls this season."

Denis Gale, manager of the Adoption and Foster Care Unit, said: "This scheme is another way the local community is supporting our young people and their carers.

"Anyone who wants more information about becoming a foster parent should call (01274) 437343 or go to www.bradfordadoptionfostering.org.uk"

The Super League season runs until October.
