Five pairs tied on nine under par 61 in the Bradford Winter Alliance event at Baildon on Wednesday. Dave Hoddy and John Clough from Hollins Hall took first place on a countback, with Silsden's Alan Lampkin and Malcolm Mawson fourth.

Simon Jowitt from Branshaw carded a 69 in the professionals event, but finished third behind R Headley (The Manor) and S Wright (Baildon) on a countback.

Several volunteer members lent the greenkeepers a hand in the planting of 1,500 new trees, the first stage of an eventual 5,000 alder, birch, ash, mountain ash and oak to be sited at various points around the course.

The Mail on Sunday team of S Brook, R Northrop, R Mitchell and N Northrop beat Settle, at home, by 4-0.
