TEENAGE shooting star Paul Gott has been taking on the big boys.

Fourteen-year-old Paul, a pupil at Holy Family School, has been making the world of Clay Pigeon shooting sit up and take notice with some impressive results at top competitions.

he took second place in his class at the Irish Open Clay Pigeon Shooting Championships held near Dublin, and also clocked up a string of second and third places when he took on adult marksmen in Open Shoots at Kelbrook Shooting Grounds, Shugborough Hall in the Midlands, Worseley, near Manchester and at the Lowther Game Show.

He has also been selected to join the junior section of West Yorkshire's county squad.

Paul regularly shoots with his father, Martin, at the Herders' Hotel between Haworth and Laneshawbridge and last year won the Nidderdale League at Under-16 and Under-18 level and was also a member of the winning Open Age team.

His success had earned him backing from Keighley wholesale hardware company D-Jet who have provided him with a new shooting vest and will be helping towards to cost of entering competitions in the coming season.
