Skipton return to league action tomorrow when they entertain Pocklington, the bottom club in Yorkshire Two, who should provide the Reds with a couple of points to keep the strugglers comfortably at arm's length.

With only three wins from 17 outings, the East Yorkshire side are destined to take the drop barring some exceptional results in the closing games and while they contributed to a decent contest when the sides met earlier in the season, a focussed Skipton effort should be ample tomorrow.

The Sandylands men select from strength, with George Smithson back at full-back and Jack Morgan teaming up with Ian Scrivin and Mark Davison in the back-row to the exclusion of flanker John Settle, who stands down because of the limit on overseas players.

Prop Geoff Reid-Hughes returns on the replacement bench after a back injury, where he joins Mike Richards and Graham Newhouse.

Top game in Yorkshire One is at West Park Bramhope, where leaders Keighley hope to cement their title ambitions by avenging a home defeat by the North Leeds side earlier in the season. Defeat at Leodiensians in the Yorkshire Shield last weekend should have sharpened up the Utley side's act.

North Ribblesdale, in contrast, have a string of ailments and injuries as long as your arm as they prepare to visit second-placed York.

Willie Garth, Ryan Kirkbride and Phil Pawson are absent from the pack, although Johnny Mills and Russell Haworth are set to resume, while behind the scrum the situation is seriously grave, with Neil Gemmell, John Walker, Marc Driver, Jonathan Richards, Simon Coultherd and the Evans brothers all ruled out.

At full-strength the Settle side would be hard-pressed to cope at Clifton Park and in the circumstances, they face a real test of character.

The only saving grace tomorrow is that Yarnbury, who they need to overhaul to hold on to Yorkshire One status, are also on the road and will do well to upset the form-book themselves at Old Crossleyans.
