Some of Bradford's key figures will be chatting about various aspects of their faith and work during a series of discussions at Bradford Cathedral.

Everyone is invited to the informal "Conversations" event, which will run every Wednesday throughout the Christian festival of Lent starting tomorrow.

The Dean of Bradford, the Very Reverend Dr Christopher Hancock, who is hosting the event, said: "These are an important series of informal half-hour conversations about issues of life and faith relevant to Bradford".

Subjects covered by the six speakers will include holding on to your faith during a crisis, doubts, faith at work, financial integrity and the abuse of trust.

The Bishop of Bradford, the Right Reverend David James, will begin the chats with his thoughts on faith in a time of crisis.

He said: "I strongly commend this series of informal Lent Conversations about life and faith to be held in the Cathedral.

"In my particular conversation, I hope to show people how I bring together my faith and my doubts."

Nightclub owner John Pennington, President of Bradford Chamber of Commerce, is looking forward to talking about his faith at work.

He said: "Religion and belief is something that people often don't talk about, but every man has his god and we all pray in one way or another. Everybody benefits by bringing religion into the workplace. We can all try to be fair at work, see the other man's point of view."

The Conversation events are: Tomorrow: "Faith in a time of crisis", Right Reverend David James, Bishop of Bradford; March 19: "Faith and doubts", John Pennington, President of Bradford Chamber of Commerce; March 26: "Faith at work", Councillor Margaret Eaton, Leader of Bradford Council; April 2: "Faith when trust is abused", Geoff Lealman, consultant paediatrician, bishop's advisor on child protection; April 9: "Faith and financial integrity", Tim Hindley, chief executive of Bradford Breakthrough; and April 16: "Faith in worship", Philip Moore, director of music, York Minster.

YoYo caf bar in Little Germany is sponsoring the event by providing a light lunch at 12.45pm on each Wednesday, before the 1pm sessions.
