Jimmy Lowes joined the growing list of absentees for Saturday's trip to Widnes after picking up a ban for his part in Sunday's Odsal brawl.

Bulls' veteran hooker joins up to ten team-mates who may miss out on the Challenge Cup quarter-final tie at the Halton Stadium through injury and illness.

Lowes was fined £400 and suspended for one game for striking during the 74th-minute 26-man brawl at the end of the Homecoming clash with Wakefield.

But the Bulls received a boost with the news that Great Britain international prop Stuart Fielden escaped with just a £500 fine from the incident and will be available for Saturday's tie.

Wildcats prop Michael Korkidas, whose high tackle on Rob Parker sparked the incident, has been banned for two matches and fined £300.

Losing Lowes is a heavy blow to coach Brian Noble who could be without the services of nearly half his first-team squad this weekend.

Seven of the squad missed training yesterday, with winger Tevita Vaikona the latest to be sidelined after going down with food poisoning.

Captain Robbie Paul missed Sunday's 22-10 win with a neck problem and he remains doubtful for this weekend while Joe Vagana (hamstring), Rob Parker (ankle), Lesley Vainikolo (dead leg), Leon Pryce (ankle), Karl Pratt (neck), Paul Deacon (head) are all struggling.

"I have never known anything like it," said Noble. "We'll have a look at the situation on Thursday but I would think at least six of them won't play.
