Nicky Law is plotting a ram raid on under-fire Derby chief John Gregory.

The knives are out for Gregory at Pride Park after a run of only two wins in the last 13 league games, which has plunged the Rams to 18th.

City would hop over them with a victory on Saturday - and crank up the heat a few more notches on Gregory.

Law, pictured far right, is hoping his side can capitalise on the uncertainty by pushing for their sixth away win.

He said: "Derby are certainly feeling the pressure because they have under-achieved this season. I watched them last week against Crystal Palace and they are struggling.

"They have a decent squad but we all know it doesn't necessarily work out like that and there will be reasons why. They have come down with a Premiership squad but it requires a different mentality to compete at this level.

"I think them being at home could work in our favour. They are going to have to come out at us as Crystal Palace did on Saturday and Leicester last week and that's when we are at our best.

"We're looking to climb up the table one by one. We overtook Walsall last week and now let's see if we can go above Derby.

"We worked hard to beat Palace and I thought we were comfortable winners in the end. This is a good chance to build on that."

Gregory is desperate not to get dragged into a relegation fight as he prepares to rebuild in the summer. His team were booed off the pitch after their last two defeats.

Gregory is unlikely to get the chop even if City win - he has two more years on his contract and Derby could not afford to shell out the hefty compensation. But he knows a home loss would trigger further unrest among fans.

Gregory said: "We still need to get points between now and the end of the season and Saturday's game against Bradford cannot come quickly enough for me. I am more determined than ever to make sure we get things right and I'm 100 per cent committed to doing that.

"The supporters pay their money and have every right to be critical. All I will say is that I will not rest until we can all be proud of the club and we have achieved something."

Law has extra options for the weekend. Jamie Lawrence is back from suspension and Danny Cadamarteri and Michael Standing have recovered from the illness which forced them to miss the win over Palace.

Derby have dismissed reports that Gregory's days are numbered.

"That's pure speculation," said a club spokesman.
