After clinching three trophies in the last fortnight, the winning of an unprecedented fourth proved a bridge too far for Albion Sports.

The treble-holders were second best to Fairweather Green who won their first major trophy with a 4-0 success in the Bradford & District FA Sunday Senior Cup at Horsfall Stadium.

Albion had looked to be getting on top with Vinnie Archer hitting the bar and Gary Shaw driving wide in the first 15 minutes.

But play switched to the other end where Lee Summerscales and Greg Watts worked a short corner with the former driving home from the edge of the box with the Albion defenders standing off.

Mick Burke, holding the ball up well, proved a constant thorn in Albion's defence and was involved in Fairweather Green's second, put away by John Penn, though there was a strong hint of offside.

The third goal was always going to be decisive and after Sean Durkin hit the post and Watts went close early in the second half, Penn curled in his second goal.

Paul Exley added a fourth near the end after a clever lay-off from Burke.

Burke took the man-of-the-match award though Sean Durkin, who ran the second half from midfield, ran him close.

The Bradford Sunday Alliance Division 1A game that was abandoned when Nags player Dave Mallett collapsed and died on the field was replayed on Sunday as a memorial game to the late player.

Played in good spirit and fancy dress, 1A champions Waggoners won the match

4-1.

Goals came from Steve Smith (2), Carl Yewdall and Steve Woodward.
