An open verdict has been recorded on a 44-year-old man who took a 'huge' overdose of anti-depressants.

Phillip Oddy was found dead at his home in Herschel Road, Lower Grange, Bradford, in January.

Police made the discovery in an upstairs bedroom after he had not been seen for up to four days.

A post-mortem examination revealed that Mr Oddy died from cardiac respiratory failure due to a dothiepin overdose. It was estimated that he might have been taken at least 30 tablets.

The inquest heard how he had problems sleeping and might have been suffering from Huntington's Chorea disease.

Coroner Roger Whittaker said there was insufficient evidence to show that Mr Oddy took his own life deliberately.

He said it was a huge overdose, adding it was possible he had been fed up because he was not sleeping.
