Lots of sun, sand and sea greeted nearly 400 Yeadon pensioners on their annual free trip to the seaside at the weekend.

Seven coaches set off from Morrisons car park in Yeadon to take the 398 old people to Bridlington on Saturday.

The action-packed day cost £14,000 and was made possible through a year of fundraising by the Yeadon Charities Association.

Secretary of Yeadon Charities Association Winnie Brown said: "It was an absolutely marvellous day from beginning to end.

"The food we had was great. We were treated to a roast beef dinner with Yorkshire puddings and we were all served within an hour.

"It was a beautiful day, it was lovely to see everyone sat along the promenade. Some of us went for a stroll and others just sat and took in the sun.

"When we got home the Yeadon cadet's brass band played as we approached Yeadon Town Hall and they saluted every coach.

"They did us proud. It made a lovely end to a very special day."

The charity raised the money for the trip through its pantomime, coffee mornings and collection boxes. The trip is open to people who are 65 years or over and have lived in Yeadon for at least 12 months.
