The gardeners of Haworth Primary School have added the village's war memorial to their flower-planting round.

The youngsters this week filled two new mangers at the memorial with flowers grown in their greenhouse.

The 16 pupils also re-planted their existing flower tubs at Haworth fire station and railway station.

The planting was done in time for next month's judging of Haworth's entry in the Yorkshire in Bloom competition.

The war memorial on Bridgehouse Lane has for the first time been entered in a special section of the competition.

Flowers at the memorial are normally looked after by Bradford council's Worth Valley gardening team, led by school gardening club leader Steve Thorpe.
