A National Lottery crew spent a day filming an advert at Oxenhope Station on Wednesday.

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Trust plays a starring role in the latest National Lottery TV advert because it received a £599,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund in March, 2000.

The 30 seconds of footage will feature internal and external shots from the trains and is due to be aired from Monday, July 14, to advertise a new £500,000 scratchcard game.

Senior communications executive Carolyn Fitzgerald said: "We wanted to film the advert here because the railway really benefited from the lottery funding and it's such a beautiful location.

"Everyone has been really accommodating and everything has gone according to plan so far.

"We just want to make people realise that it's not just the big lotto draw that generates money for good causes -- the money generated all helps worthwhile projects like this."

Paul Brown, president of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Preservation Society said: "We were really struggling for funding before we got the lottery money.

"It has gone towards vital work including building a storage unit for the locomotives and re-cladding the workshop.

"The money definitely helped our work here -- before we got the shed for the coaches they were deteriorating outside in the elements as fast as we could preserve them. The money has been a real help."

Star of the advert Melanie Ramsorrun, from Leeds, said: "It's all to advertise a new scratchcard with four games on one.

"I've never done anything like this before but got involved through some market research they did and took my lucky penny along to the auditions.

"I told them about how I use my lucky penny to scratch the scratchcards and they just liked it -- the penny even features in the advert!

"Filming has taken place along the whole line and I have been here before.

"I've brought my two little boys here before and they just love it.

"It will be strange seeing myself on TV, but I have really enjoyed myself today."

The new lottery scratchcard game will be available to play from tomorrow.
