Burley opener Chris Wheeler is in excellent form and he followed his unbeaten 101 of the previous week with a magnificent 170 not out against Bardsey in the Aire-Wharfe Division B on Saturday.

His chanceless knock included two sixes and 25 fours as the sun blazed down on Hodson Park.

Burley stacked up a superb 284 for five with Wheeler scoring at a run a ball.

Bardsey were dismissed for 132 in reply as Richard Harrison claimed five for 32 and Nick Brook (3-28).

Kirkstall Educational and Rawdon are still battling it out at the top as the promotion battle hots up. A half-century from Steve Harrison helped Kirkstall defeat Ilkley by seven wickets.

Ilkley were dismissed for 124 with Anthony Cadman holding things together with a brilliant knock of 82 not out.

Sadly his colleagues were able to offer little support as M Hodgson bagged five for 72 and Neil Walmsley (3-23).

With Harrison leading the way with an unbeaten 57 Kirkstall gained victory.

Rawdon skipper Craig Walsh with excellent support from David Whittaker gave his side a fine start against Knaresborough.

Walsh hit 89 and Whittaker 50 as they shared a stand of 109. Walsh and Bruce Percy (50) then put on 91 for the second wicket and Rawdon went on to make an excellent 286-6.

Greg Pickles, the 15 year-old Knares-borough debutant, claimed four for 81 and then hit 25 but he could not stop Rawdon from claiming a win by a 139 run margin.

Slow bowler Neil Waite did most of the damage with a five for 48 return while pace man Kenrick Marshall took three for 60.

Harden gained a crucial win in their battle against relegation but it was by the merest of margins.

Their total of 180 proved two runs too many for Thackley who had rallied from 110 for eight.

A Bairstow with 54 and Andy Moulds with 46 were Harden's main scorers while A Bogie kept them in check with a four for 42 return. C Busfield (33) and C Luxton (30) tried hard to turn the tide Thackley's way.

Tong Park gained a five wickets win over Pool who fell for a modest 129 as I Jackson took three for 42, the veteran Mick Scott (4-41) and Steve Young (3-31).

Chris Spivey top scored for Pool with 32 but Tong Park had the in form men with Young completing a good all-round performance with an innings of 40 not out, J Law making 32 not out and Chris Shepherd 30.

Calverley gained all six points after a three wickets win over Silsden who made 175 for nine.

L Bilbrough top scored with 37 while A Waggett made 31. S Alred produced the best return for Calverley with four for 43.

With A Jones hitting 56 and Paul Valkovics 33 Silsden coasted home.
