KEIGHLEY-based athletes have been piling up a string of superb performances.

In the West Yorkshire Schools Championship Rebecca Long won the Under-17 ladies 300m hurdles in 46.3 seconds and Amy Teasedale won the Under-17 pole vault with a height of 2.70m.

Emily Noble won the Under-17 ladies 80m hurdles in 12.8secs and Ella Teasedale won the Under-20 ladies hammer with a Championship Best performance of 42.76m, a 5m improvement on her previous best performance.

All four athletes also qualified for the County Schools team to compete in the English Schools National Athletic Championships to be held at Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield.

Oliver Robinson won the Under-17 mens 100m hurdles in 15.1 secs, Frances Noble was second in the Under-20 ladies Long Jump with 5.22m and ben ambler was second in the Under-17 mens' javelin with a throw of 43.96m.

Anthony Gill continued his comeback with a silver medal in the North of England Senior Championships held at Manchester on saturday. he won his 110m hurdles semi-final in a a time of 15secs and came second in the final with 14.8 secs. Anthony represents the North of England at Birmingham this weekend.

Following their success at the schools championships local competitors followed up with good performances in the National Junior League matches with Ella Teasdale being named Athlete of the Match with wins in the hammer (39.99m), pole vault (2.90m) and javelin (28.98m).

This coming weekend several take part in the Northern Region combined events Regional championships at York.
