Haworth gave Craven League leaders a real wake-up call after they left their opening batters reeling.

Embsay lost their skipper with the total on four. and the other opener, youngster Simon Bailey, had to retire after being hit on the head.

Four more wickets fell to leave them on 62-5 before Bailey rejoined the fray with James Tiffany and the pair put on 133 before Bailey was out after reaching his century. Tiffany made 51 as the score reached 236.

Haworth's young star, Gary Binns took 6-76 off 16 overs. The Bronte side struggled in their reply and were dismissed for 104. Stephen Speak 5-48 and Richard Phillipson 4-24 did the damage.

Second placed Oakworth were also in fine form at home to Long Lee. They batted first and openers John Crossley and Adam Fradley put on 151. Crossley, who had been missed five times, was caught out on 99, his innings contained 15 fours and a six. Fradley made 64 before being run out and Michael Scarborough blasted 73 in the last nine overs, scoring 6 sixes and 6 fours.

The visitors were soon under the cosh and after 3.1 overs found themselves at 5-3. Matt Taylor and Andy Parsons set about retrieving the situation and patiently built a stand, which came to an end on 81. Aussie Mick Isles joined Parsons and were hanging on when there was a 20-minute interruption for rain. Then Parsons holed out for 40, Isles was bowled for 34 and the end soon followed. Scarborough finished with 4-19.

Thornton move into third spot after a good win at Cowling in a high scoring game. They batted first and made a massive 273-4 with Aussie Adam Zampatti scoring a fine 137no and Kev Pollard 81. The homesters made a positive reply, which closed on 232-6 with Mike Dudley scoring 78. Barrowford are fourth after adding to Skipton CI's woes at Bull Holme. The Sandylanders made a creditable 170-6 with the Williamson brothers scoring the bulk of the runs, Nick made 60 and Shaun 49. Sadly the bowling let them down as the home side plundered 174-3 with Ajmal Choudry leading the way with 64no.

Cullingworth's season has been a see-saw affair, last week they beat Barrowford, but then tumbled to a 13-run defeat at Haworth WE. The Bronte side scored 106 with Chris Welch taking 5-40. Then Jason Bilbrough 4-37, Damian Bailey 4-46 and Andy Benfield 2-4 sent the visitors crashing to defeat.

It was derby day at Sutton where neighbours Glusburn were visitors, and the leaders of the Division Two were in good form. They restricted the second placed visitors to 150-9, Alan Thornley making 46 and Justin Holdsworth claiming 5-47. The homesters romped to a crushing nine-wicket win with Paul Williams scoring 66no and Paul Hardaker 47no.

Cononley move into second after a cracking eight-wicket win over at Pendle Forest. The Fence side slumped to 128 all out with Jason Bracewell scoring 51 and the best bowling coming from Andy Town who finished with 4-25. Charles Calvert 53 and Tom Starkey 40 saw the South Craveners to the points.

Ingrow are fourth after they saw off visitors Jimmy Nelson's by four wickets. A Khan 4-34, M Khan 46 and T Crook 46 were the stars for the winners.

Chatburn beat Carleton by six wickets in Ribblesdale. The Red Rose side had star men in John Lockley 6-42, Andy Booth 4-57 and Paul Craig 54no.

In another high scoring game Airedale pulled off a fine four-wicket victory at home to Ingrow St John's. The Saints made 202-9 with Matthew Walker top scoring with 56. The reply was built around Phil Loftus who made 94no to guide the home side to the points. Victory came in the penultimate over.

Leaders of Division Three Oakworth, were made to fight all the way for the points against bottom side Long Lee. The homesters were hustled out for 98 with Paul McCullough taking 3-15 and Gary Searby 3-22. The Cure Hill side got home by three wickets thanks mainly to Wayne Fradley who made 54 as A Razak finished with 5-25.

Barrowford are second after a crushing 147-run victory over third placed Skipton CI. S Hewitt 50 and Nigel Hargreaves 46 helped the Bull Holme side to 208-6 as John Stuttard took 6-74. CI crumbled as Peter Hakin took 8-31.

Andy Bell was the most successful bowler taking 5-40. John Hillary's 63 was the backbone of the Shires Laners' reply, with Alan Robinson chipping in with 31 as Balderstone took 4-65.

Cullingworth move level with Skipton CI after beating Pendle Forest by 61 runs at Royd Wood. Mark Rendell was the start of the game scoring 71no and taking 5-30 for the winners.

Thornton were brought back to earth when they entertained Cowling and slipped to a four-wicket defeat. The home side were indebted to Michael Hird 70 and James Cowgill 34 for the bulk of their 193-9. Skipper Mark Batty was the most successful bowler with 3-37. He followed this with 48 to go with G Whittaker's 46 and Joe Gordon's 30 as the target was reached.

Ingrow St John's wouldn't have been too happy with their 123 at home to Airedale. Alan Hargreaves top scored with 46 as S Aslam took 6-27. However it was 25 too many for the visitors as Trevor Cox made 37 and M Mehrban finished with 5-23.

There was a terrific scrap at the top of Division Four where leaders Denholme entertained second placed Bradley who won by just 3 runs after a pulsating game. The visitors made 184-9 with Andy Curtis scoring 42 and A Holme 47. The home side looked down and out before 13-year-old Nathan Woodhead, batting at No 10, entered the fray and struck 25 to take them so close to their target. Earlier Ian Spencer had made 52 and John Williamson finished with 4-40.

Glusburn join Denholme in second place after a 96-run win over Sutton. M Hebden made 43 out of their 200 as Andy Elrick claimed 6-58. Richard Smith was the visitors' tormentor as he claimed 7-49.

Cononley enjoyed a good 93 run victory at home to Keighley TC who have gone off the boil. The South Craveners made 169 with Kendall Gott scoring 62 and Sam Akrigg 40. John Pankhurst 4-11 and Dean Woolley 4-72 doing most of the damage with the ball. The Keighley side were then dismissed for 76 with Tom Holloway taking 5-34 and A Starkey 5-40.

There was a nail-biter at Foulridge where bottom placed Gargrave made a modest 97 as Ian Edworthy took 5-12 and Stephen Kegg 4-29. The Noyna side then had a struggle to reach their target - losing nine wickets on the way. Richard Storr 6-34 and Rod Moon 3-57 tried their best for the losers.

Long Lee III crashed by nine wickets at home to Chatburn who had stars in Geoff Lambert 6-28, T West 42no and Rod Booth 34

Pendle Forest III enjoyed a good win over visitors Ingrow. Veteran David Hall scored 44no as the Fence side made 147-6 in their overs. Then D Hakin took 7-22 to have the Keighley men back in the hut for just 51.
