The cost of building the Aire Valley motorway cannot be justified says West Yorkshire's motorway pressure group, Transport 2000. Twelve miles of road, at £47m, through an area of the North West where there are no major populated areas would be an unjustified investment, it claims. Additional expense would be incurred at Skipton, Leeds and Bradford, should the trunk road, a subject of much controversy for years, be built.

For 33 years Mr Owen Pywell, foreman warehouseman at Bradford Dyers' Association Transport Depot, Thornton Road, Bradford has had three meals daily at Dyson's restaurant, just across the road from the depot. It is estimated he has had over 35,000 meals there, but toady he will eat for the last time in the restaurant, as he is retiring after a total of 45 years' service with the B.D.A.
