A Bradford computer supplies firm today announced plans for a fresh recruitment drive after seeing its turnover grow to almost £7 million in just three years.

OfficeXpress, based on the Euroway Industrial Estate, is looking to expand its sales staff of 18 to about 30 by the end of the year. The firm, part of the international UFP group, has enjoyed a rapid period of growth since moving to its new £4 million headquarters earlier this year.

The OfficeXpress business focuses on the sale of computer equipment from suppliers like Hewlett Packard, Sony and Cannon direct to end-users.

Its sister firm, UFP UK which sells to wholesalers, is also based in the new building and is also planning a period of expansion.

Turnover at OfficeXpress is this year expected to reach about £6.7 million, with the UFP group totalling £550 million across Europe.

Director of sales Stephen O'Brien said the firm was delighted with the level of growth in a highly competitive market. But he admitted the firm had struggled to recruit enough new staff to match the growing demand. He said the new OfficeXpress sales office could house more than 100 staff and that target was expected to be reached in the next few years.

"This year has been very much a year of consolidation for us where we have laid good foundations to really get up and running. In the next three years, we see this as a £30 million turnover business."
