Yobs will not be tolerated on the district's estates, according to the six new housing chiefs in charge of the £175 million programme to repair and improve thousands of homes.

The executive directors will oversee the trusts which are now managing the district's 25,000 former Council houses.

And today they gave a pledge to the tenants of a better future which would be tailored to their needs.

The appointments are a key step forward for Bradford Community Housing Trust, the umbrella body involved in the takeover of homes from Bradford Council earlier this year.

Femi Adewole, executive director of the East Bradford Trust, was regional director and head of Bedford Pilgrims Housing Association.

He said: "We have a major opportunity to lead the building of communities where people want to live and are intensely proud of.

"I also know our tenants want us to be more than just landlords. Among other things they want us to confront the anti-social behaviour which blights their lives and communities.

"We will be paying a lot of attention to that. Our tolerance of yobbish behaviour will be drastically reduced."

Ian Simpson, an experienced Bradford housing officer, has taken over Bradford West City Community Housing Trust .

He said: "In the long term we want to create more loyalty towards BCHT by offering tenants more than just a home.

"We aim to provide a package of support and assistance which will change as tenants' needs change.

"We have just started the £175 million housing programme lasting five years for the repair and improvement of existing houses.

"We also have a vision for the future, including new housing built where it is wanted, in partnership with other housing associations and designed to fit the needs of the new tenants."

Another executive director is Joan Hearne, who now heads the South. Bradford Trust. She has worked in housing for 24 years in Scotland, Greater Manchester and Bolton.

Lorraine O'Brien has been appointed executive director of the Shipley Trust after working in housing for 23 years in Harrogate, Boston, Manchester and Cumbria.

Tim Doyle who is heading the Bradford North Trust, will oversee the multi-million pound regeneration of the Ravenscliffe estate and has worked with the Brunel Housing Asssociation in Bradford and Poplar Housing and Regeneration Community Association in London.

Carol Bridges is in charge of the Aire-Wharfe Trust and has worked with Bradford housing department for many years.
