Talented young artists have captured Keighley's best features to scoop top prizes in an art competition.

The budding young Hockney's designed posters on the theme of Welcome to Keighley as part of the town's Yorkshire Day celebrations.

The competition was organised by staff at Keighley Information Centre and entries were judged by town Mayor Councillor Nancy Holdsworth and Councillor Andrew Mallinson.

Information officer Gilly Clough said: "We asked the children to design posters depicting the different aspects of Keighley.

"The competition has been run before but for this year we decided to combine it with Yorkshire Day.

"We've had some excellent entries and we would like to thank Reids Bookshop, Argos, Fletchers and Small Office Supplies for donating the prizes."

Cllr Mallinson added: "The quality of the entries has been fantastic but we would like to build the quantity up when it's held next year."

The up to five category was won by five-year-old Jasmin Firth, with Jasmine Woodruff, Haley Nolan and Laura Simpson, all ten, taking the six to ten-year category with their joint entry.

Another joint entry by Samantha Carr, 11, and Emma Lyskava, 13, won the 11 to 16 category.

The winning posters were put on display in Keighley Town Hall.

Jay Jacobs and Nabila Hussain from the information centre also helped organise the competition.
