WHEN Rylstone and District WI bared all for a nude fundraising calendar in 2000 they thought it would be a one-off joke seen only by family and a few friends.

But £650,000, an expected blockbuster film and a whole host of glittering award ceremonies later, the brave women have done it again.

The Calendar Girls 2004 calendar was launched in Burnsall yesterday (Thursday) and the stars are hoping sales will out-'strip' the previous one.

Initially 120,000 copies have been printed for the UK, with more for the USA and publishers Penguin expect a sell out.

Again profits will be given to Leukaemia Research in memory of John Baker, whose wife, Angela, features in the calendar.

The new calendar boasts classically posed nude shots of six of the original WI members as well as poses from members of the film's cast, including Julie Walters, Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie and Penelope Wilton.

The photos of the WI were taken by Terry Logan, who took the pictures for the first calendar and whose wife, Lynda, is one of the Calendar Girls.

He said it was difficult trying to come up with new ideas for the poses but this time the women were much more professional when it came to baring all!

Mrs Baker said all the women were pleased with the outcome of the calendar and pointed out that she had been moved from Miss February to Miss December - still a cold month!

The calendar was launched to tie in with the release of the Calendar Girls movie due to be premiered in Skipton on September 10.

The calendar will be on sale through most bookshops priced £9.99.
