BARROW RANGERS 16 KEIGHLEY COUGARS 18; In a sensational final ten minutes, the Cougars went from despair to elation.

Club captain Jason Ramshaw was dismissed in the 70th minute - allegedly for punching - and it looked a lost cause. They trailed 14-10 and Barrow extended their lead with the penalty.

But in recent weeks Cougar coach Gary Moorby has asked his players for more passion and they certainly came up with the goods, scoring two tries in the last five minutes to snatch the points.

Dave Foster powered through a five-man tackle to make it 16-14, then - with literally the last play of the game - the Cougars pounced on a Barrow error, Foster putting winger Andy Robinson in at the corner for the match-winning try.

Moorby was absolutely delighted, saying: "The commitment, spirit and character has never been better. Barrow were a bigger side with a bigger pack but we really dug in, especially after Jason got sent off.

"I've criticised our character in recent weeks. We saw a big improvement against Working-ton last week but yesterday we battled and battled and battled.

"This was a massive team effort that puts us just behind Chorley at the top of National League Two and gives us a massive psychological boost before our home game against Sheffield next week. Undoubted-ly that will be our most important game of the season. It should be a cracker and let's hope we get a good crowd."

The Cougars took an early lead with Robinson's first try, converted by Adam Mitchell. How-ever, Barrow soon made it 6-6.

Ramshaw, back at hooker, showed he hadn't lost his touch when he went over from acting half to make it 10-6 at the break. Barrow soon got a converted try to make it 12-10, two penalties took it to 16-10 and they must have thought they had it won.
