The Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, is to visit Bradford to discuss issues surrounding the region's business community.
He will have breakfast at the Bradford Chamber of Commerce and Industry on September 12 and then talk to around 100 invited people from the district who will also have the chance to quiz him on the state of the economy.
Mr King, who succeeded Eddie George in July, surprised observers in his first meeting as chair of the monetary policy committee, which meets monthly to set interest rates, by announcing a quarter-point cut bringing rates to their lowest since 1955.
Chamber president Roland Clark said the event, at the Hanover Hotel, was a major coup for Bradford.
He said: "To get the new Governor of the Bank of England - so soon after taking up his new role - to come to speak directly to chamber members at such an important time is a big achievement for the chamber. Credit should also go to Mr King for visiting the region."
