Bradford City 0, Ipswich Town 1: Another home game, another defeat for the Bantams this afternoon.

Ipswich became the fifth side in seven league games to depart West Yorkshire with three points in their pocket.

City only threatened an equaliser in the final 15 minutes after Marlon Beresford saved Pablo Counago's penalty.

That shifted the momentum which up to that point had been firmly with Ipswich. The only surprise was that it was only 1-0 at the time. City's problems deepened with injuries to two defenders. Paul Heckingbottom limped off after just eight minutes but Jason Gavin's injury looked more serious as he left clutching his already-damaged shoulder.

The Irish centre-half has already admitted he needs an operation - which would knock him out for four months.

Ipswich, who have now won five in six, missed good chances through Shefki Kuqi and Georges Santos before Alan Mahon fired home four minutes before the break.

Danny Forrest's arrival for the crocked Gavin added a spark before Beresford's spot-kick save gave the home side renewed hope.

The fans got behind Nicky Law's side as they rallied - without ever seriously threatening Ipswich keeper Kelvin Davis' first clean sheet of the league campaign.

David Wetherall was another casualty and played the closing stages with a bandaged head. But despite six minutes of added time, City could not prevent another home setback.
