Yobs who left a toddlers' Christmas party in ruins by stealing their goodies have struck again.

Organisers of the Munch Bunch group were devastated when the thieves broke in to Low Moor and Oakenshaw Community Centre, where they meet, and took sweets, crisps, drinks and selection boxes they had bought for the party.

The group made a desperate plea for public help to replace the stolen items and were overwhelmed by the generous response.

But when they arrived at the Terry Road centre yesterday for the weekly meeting they were horrified to find the thieves had been back and stolen the goodies again.

Organiser Helen Rodger said: "We are so annoyed. It is just beyond belief.

"We have been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of so many people who have come forward and donated things for the party after the first break-in. People have also offered to carry out building and painting work that needs doing on the building and someone is going to put security grilles on windows.

"It is just so frustrating that after so many kind people helped to save the party, a bunch of uncaring youngsters have decided to ruin it all again.

"Fortunately, we have enough money left from what has been donated to replace what has gone again. But we had to cancel the toddlers group this week and disappoint the children. It's hard to believe people can stoop so low."

The Christmas party for 30 children is planned for five weeks' time.

Mrs Rodger said they believed local teenagers were responsible for the attacks but nobody had reported seeing anything, even though the centre is on a busy road in clear view of nearby houses.
