Colin Lee today stuck up for rival boss Nicky Law as he prepared to stoke up the pressure on him.

A Walsall win at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium would push Law closer to the edge.

But Lee, who watched City buck the losing trend in midweek, believes nobody could do a better job in charge.

Lee said: "Against Coventry his team seemed to be playing with a hell of a lot of spirit and commitment. If you take the view of someone upstairs looking down, then I don't know what any other manager could do differently.

"All managers are under pressure to get results regardless of where you are in the league but it's just magnified when you are at the bottom. When luck deserts you, you have to keep going and believing."

City have gone ten games without a win but Law hopes the midweek draw will signal an upturn.

Law said: "That has given us a toe-hold again and now we've got to try and turn the corner.

"Walsall will come here full of confidence after beating Nottingham Forest. Paul Merson makes them tick in the same way as Gary McAllister at Coventry and we kept him very quiet.

"Jamie Lawrence will also want to put as much as he can into the game.

"But it's not about Walsall, it's up to how we play."
