Changes have been rung at Steeton Telephone Exchange.
Bradford Council's deputy leader, Councillor Simon Cooke, visited to officially mark a broadband switch-on.
The move is part of a campaign -- the first of its kind in the country -- to bring broadband to telephone exchanges in the region.
Behind the venture, which enables high-speed connection to the Internet, is the Keighley-based Broadband Airedale and Wharfedale (BBAW) campaign.
It is the result of a partnership between Bradford Council, Yorkshire Forward, BT and Business Link, supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
The switch-on brings broadband access to areas such as Silsden and Steeton.
The Cullingworth exchange will go live in February next year.
Over 5,000 households and 393 businesses stand to benefit from the development.
BBAW is now actively promoting the benefits of broadband and offering support to interested businesses, including grant aid to eligible firms.
