City reserves went into their final game in the preliminary round of the Pontin's Holidays League Cup against York City at the Bradford & Bingley Stadium with only pride at stake.

Having been comprehensively beaten in their other two games at Darlington and Hartlepool United it impossible for them to progress.

But City did the job last night beating York 2-1 thanks to goals from Lewis Emanuel and Paul Evans. The Bantams took the lead after 52 minutes following a swift counter attack with Paul Evans picking the ball up and releasing Emanuel, who had been causing the York defenders problems throughout the game with his pace. He took the ball to the edge of the area before striking it hard and low into the bottom corner of the net. The Minstermen drew level on 77 minutes when City failed to defend from a corner kick leaving Liam George to pounce on the loose ball and fire home. But with two minutes remaining it was Paul Evans who managed to grab the winner when he curled in a shot from 20 yards.
