Danny Cadamarteri expects to be fit to face Walsall on Saturday.

The City striker, whose goal began the fightback against Millwall, sparked injury fears when he was taken off before the end after taking a kick on the calf.

Cadamarteri has not trained so far this week but is hoping to join in tomorrow. And the former England under-21 international is confident of featuring against the Saddlers.

He said: "It was just a little kick, nothing too serious, and it's eased off quite a lot now. The gaffer took me off just to be safe and has given me the chance for it to recover. I feel good and strong in myself and hopefully I'll be in contention for the Walsall game.

"It was a great result for us on Saturday and a goal has been a long time coming for me, especially at home. I'm hoping that means the problems I've had are behind me now."

Boss Bryan Robson, who returned from Dubai today, believes Cadamarteri can be a major part in the club's survival bid.

City's injury problems are clearing. David Wetherall (knee) is out until the new year but keeper Mark Paston (pelvis) is back in light training.

Physio Steve Redmond said: "We're monitoring Mark day by day and, fingers crossed, it won't be too long before he is back. But he's not quite out of the woods just yet."
