WEATHERGIRL Jo Blythe joined Santa and hundreds of Yeadon folk to turn on the town's festive lights at the weekend.

The Yorkshire Television weathergirl joined radio presenters, Leeds Rhino mascot Ronnie the Rhino, the Aireborough MP and councillors at the bash in Yeadon Town Hall Square.

The Horsforth Old Brass Band entertained the crowd who were warmed up before the turning on ceremony by radio presenters Jon Hammond and Steve Warren.

And MP Paul Truswell and Aireborough councillors Stuart Andrew and Graham Latty counted the crowd down to the lights being turned on - which at the end were carried out by a teenager.

Coun Latty said it was a great annual event that was always enjoyed by everyone.

"Everything was on time and the square was packed with people. The lights always look nice, there are never as many as there could be, but they do look good," said Coun Latty.
