Residents of Silsden marked the festive season in style on Wednesday with their Christmas Extravaganza.

Organised by the town council and business watch, the annual event was an evening of late-night shopping, food stalls and street entertainment. More than 400 children from Hothfield and Aireview primary schools made a procession to Kirkgate singing carols and carrying candles and lanterns.

Silsden Brass Band provided music and entertainment.

There were collections by business watch to raise money for the installation of CCTV in the town and the youth council also collected money for its own initiatives.

Chris Slaven, of business watch, said: "It was an absolutely fantastic evening -- a massive success. It was nice to see the Christmas spirit out in force. Apologies for the road closure, but it was a really outstanding turn out, far beyond or expectations."
