Dougie Lampkin took the first step to winning back the World Indoor Trials title which has eluded him for the last two years.

Lampkin, who has dominated trials riding for almost a decade won the first round of the championship in Monza, Italy, last weekend.

Today (Friday) he is competing in Hong Kong and aiming to add the second round to his list of victories.

The Silsden rider has started the new campaign with renewed motivation to win back the title.

"Over the last few weeks I have been practising non-stop on indoor sections ready for this. I felt the most confident I have done for a long time going into last weekend's competition and that has certainly shown in my performance. If I am to have any chance of regaining the title I have to win all the rounds outside Spain, because the Spanish riders will have strong support on home ground. Now I want to maintain my momentum and win again in Hong Kong."

Lampkin finished second in the heat behind his Spanish team mate Marc Freixa who led by a single mark. Dougie dropped three marks in the first section but fought his way back into with a brilliant one-dab ride on the waterfall, where Raga was the next best with a scrappy three point penalty.

The final was a tense affair with Lampkin and Raga trading places throughout the six observed sections.

Dougie stole an early lead by being the only rider to clean the first section in the reverse direction, whilst the chasing trio all failed.

Lampkin saw his advantage slashed as Raga delivered a reverse action by completing the difficult waterfall hazard for the loss of just one as the rest all collected maximums.

Dougie put himself in a safe position by cleaning the high jump to make certain of the overall victory.
