Silsden played 88 minutes of their Mumtaz Premier Division game at home to Hemsworth Miners Welfare without goalkeeper Martin Foulger, who was dismissed within the first two minutes for handling outside his area.

His place in goal for the remainder of the game was taken by defender Adam Ackroyd.

The handicap of being a player short did not worry Silsden though, who went on to win 3-2.

Dale Hoyle and an Andy Holden penalty gave Silsden a two-goal advantage by half-time.

Brian Taylor reduced Silsden's lead but Hemsworth were unable to build on their numerical advantage and a Martin Bland goal restored Silsden's two-goal cushion. Richard Radford scored Hemsworth's second but it was too late to change the result.

Tyersal, who started the game one point behind Silsden, are now trailing by three points after drawing 1-1 at home to Bay Athletic.

Matthew Mazaros made his first-team debut for Tyersal after joining from Wibsey and put his new side ahead with a goal in injury-time in the first half.

Tyersal were unable to add to their advantage in the second half, and had to settle for a point after Barry Howe scored to pull the Huddersfield side level.

Basement side Otley Town improved their chances of beating the drop and moved up three places after Steve Boddy and Lee Grice scored in their 2-1 home victory over Steeton.

Ardsley Celtic, the leaders of Division One, continued their bid for a place in next season's Premiership with a 6-0 demolition of Marsden.

Second-placed Heckmondwike Town lost ground when they slipped up by losing 2-1 at home to Lower Hopton.

Matthew Adams and Paul Ashwell gave the Mirfield side a 2-0 advantage before Richard Tomlinson pulled one back for Town in the second half.

Town's defeat allowed Altofts, with games in hand, to move closer. James Coleman and Paul Robinson were on target for them as they beat Keighley Shamrocks 2-1.

Westwood showed on Saturday that they could still be involved in the promotion race. Leading scorer John Penn netted four times as they beat basement club Salt Old Boys 6-2 - Mick Burke and Scott Taylor making up the goals.

With Farnley and Halifax Irish - the two favourites for promotion from Division Two - involved in cup action, second-placed Roberttown were dealt a massive blow when beaten 4-0 by Dudley Hill Athletic. A hat-trick from Mick Naylor and a Jeremy Hillam penalty saw Dudley Hill home.

South Bradford's hopes of promotion in their first season were frustrated by Morley Town. Goals from Jodie Allan, Tony Cade, Mark Raymond and Dave Griffiths saw them run out 4-1 winners, with Adie Lowther netting South Bradford's consolation.

Rawdon Old Boys moved back into the promotion reckoning with a 5-2 home win over local north Leeds rivals Ventus/Yeadon Celtic.

A hat-trick from Darren Beck helped Bowling FC beat Crag Road Utd 4-0 and gain their first win in seven matches.
