City manager Bryan Robson is still pursuing his sole target - former Manchester United starlet Ronnie Wallwork - but the ball is firmly in West Brom's court.

Robson has been chasing the player who was in the same youth team as David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes for about a week now.

Wallwork was West Brom's first arrival after achieving promotion to the Premiership in the summer of 2002. But he has only appeared five times for the Baggies this term and it is a question of whether West Brom boss Gary Megson will let him go out on loan.

"There hasn't been any change," said Robson. "I haven't heard anything yet.

"But it is not dead - as far as I know."

The City boss said he was not trying to sign anybody else on loan at present, which suggests Wallwork is still high on his wanted list.

City are desperate to add quality to a team which is not scoring enough.

If Robson can clinch a deal, it will be his third loan signing since taking over from Nicky Law.

Gareth Farrelly was snapped up from Bolton and was an instant hit in City's midfield but injured his calf in the 1-0 win over high-flying Norwich.

Robson's second signing, Republic of Ireland international Alun Armstrong from Ipswich, scored the winner at Norwich and has fitted in well. But since Robson took over, City have failed to score in six of the nine league games.
