Proposals for a housing development in the car park of Harry Ramsden's have been submitted to planners.

The restaurant already has outline planning permission for a hotel on the 0.4 hectare site at Guiseley.

But now an application to build houses on the same site has been submitted to Leeds City Council.

Although details are sketchy at this stage it is believed the car park, to the rear of the restaurant, could accommodate between ten and twenty houses.

If the scheme were to get permission and go ahead it would replace the hotel proposed for the same site.

The outline application for a residential development was submitted on December 24, and objectors have until the end of January to make their views known to the council.

Planning officer Dylan Porter said the present submission was for outline permission for access to the site.

If it is approved a more detailed application will be submitted giving details of the proposed development, such as numbers, external design and appearance.

He said a car parking assessment would have to be carried out as part of the application because the development would result in the loss of the car park.

He said the council had only received one or two objections to the proposed development so far.
