Legal action is to be taken against past and present student leaders at Bradford University for alleged misuse of union funds on coaches sent to picket lines such as Grunwick's. The action is to be taken by Mr Richard Thorburn, 21, an economics student and chairman of the university's student Conservative Association. He wants to recoup the money spent on such coach trips by the executives.

Salary awards to teachers and local government officials which will take effect on April 1 will cost Bradford £48,000 - the equivalent of a 5d rate - according to figures given by the Bradford City Treasurer Mr John Ruscoe today. Increases ranging from £5 to £55 a year were announced by the Minister of Education yesterday.
