Sixteen year old Ilkley Grammar School pupil Ashley Woodhouse will be competing at the English Karate International Championship at Crystal Palace this weekend.
Saturday will see Ashley Free Fighting for himself and Sunday he will be competing in the Team Free Fighting.
If seeded this weekend he will automatically be chosen for the European Championship and then onto the World Championship.
Ashley takes his Black Belt examination on June 25 and 26 giving him the well earned title of 1st Dan.
Ashley is already an Assistant Instructor at Ilkley Karate Club, Ben Rhydding, and will be recognised as a referee on February 15.
Ashley has been supported throughout his career by his Sensei Mark Outterside, 5th Dan, whom he says has given him so much support.
The school wish Ashley the very best of luck at the Championships and will continue to support him in his efforts.
