Scrum half Scott Benton could well be playing against the Bees a week earlier than expected.

The England international has left Cleckheaton to join his former club Morley. Cleckheaton, level on points with the Bees at the top of North One, are at Wagon Lane a week tomorrow, but third-placed Morley host the front-runners tomorrow.

"Over two weeks ago Scott was made redundant from the job (cellar conversions) that we got him," said Cleckheaton Sports Club chairman Alan Bentley.

"But we didn't find out until we played Chester a week last Saturday, and Morley have moved very quickly.

"I understand they have offered him something like a commercial director's role over a 12-month period, and he knows Nick Kenyon there and is a Morley lad"

Bentley added: "People think we have a bottomless pit of money at Cleckheaton, but we haven't. We are not angry with Scott, who even trained with us on Tuesday, but we are disappointed that he has gone to one of our rivals for second spot and to a side that are below us in the table. We have put Gary Smith back in the first team and want him to take up where he left off with the first team. At the moment we are not looking for a replacement for Scott."

Bees coach Andy Bemrose said: "Scott's arrival will make tomorrow's match at Morley more interesting. You don't get to be an England international without being a quality player." The only change for the Bees is to bring Andy Smith onto the bench in place of Roger Raper, who drops to the second team.

Smith missed the fifth-round Powergen Intermediate Cup tie at Luctonians last weekend because his wife was expecting.

Second-placed Bradford Salem have a Yorkshire Division Two 'four-pointer' at third-placed Sheffield Tigers, who are a point behind with a game in hand. This match is going to have a major bearing on our promotion prospects," said centre Neil Klenk. "It will give us a major psychological boost if we win, though I am sure there will be more upsets."

Baildon cannot afford to slip up in their Yorkshire Division Four derby at Old Otliensians.

Wibsey need to win at Thirsk to carry on their chase for promotion back to Yorkshire Division Five, and have second-row Mark Ryan (work) and scrum half Paul Ravenscroft (hand injury).

Prop Bob Wood is on the bench after a torn claf muscle, but there are late fitness tests for centre Dan Horsfall (hamstring) and prop Paul Garside (back).
