Detectives are trying to trace a man in connection with an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl.
It was reported to have happened outside at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe School at 8.55am on Monday. when a car, believed to be a dark blue Ford Escort, pulled alongside her on Greenfield Ave, Lightcliffe.
The driver asked her to get in, but she ignored him. She crossed the road but he swerved across the road in front of oncoming vehicles, shouted at her and tried to pull her into the car. The girl ran off and hid in a park.
Ten minutes later she continued on her way to school but saw the man and the car in the car park of the Sun Inn on Stoney Lane. He shouted at her and she ran the rest of the way
to school, which
was about 100 yards away.
Police said the suspect was described as a white man, aged 40, with dark hair brushed back with dark bushy eyebrows. He was unshaven with a roundish face and a pale complexion.
He was wearing a long-sleeved grey shirt which was opened low around the neck.
A police spokesman said: "The girl was unhurt but very shaken by the incident. Parents of pupils at the school have been made aware of this."
