Guiseley 3 Belper Town 0

Neil Parsley's men put daylight between themselves and mid-table rivals Belper Town with a solid win and earned their first clean sheet in UniBond Division One this season.

Two-goal hero Scott Jackson was only denied a hat-trick by an assistant referee's flag as he was adjudged to have stayed offside.

In wintery conditions, former Bantam Mark Stuart added the third. "That was a good win and we needed it. I had expressed that to everyone in the build-up to the game," said Parsley, whose side climbed two places to 12th by banking all three points.

"I'm glad we came out on top and I'm delighted for Scott to grab a couple.

"It could have been more - for us and for him on the night. Both Scott and Dave Henry have done well, they were both close to adding to the tally."

Jackson's first, in the third minute, came courtesy of an assist from the visitors' keeper. He let a shot across him slither through his grasp to give Guiseley a good start.

Just before the hour, Jackson had the ball in the net once more, following a good through ball from Henry, but the offside flag saved Belper.

Minutes later there was no such rescue for the visitors as Jackson drilled in a low shot from 15 yards.

Henry made the third 20 minutes from time.

He rounded the keeper and clipped the ball back into the goalmouth. It came off a defender to present Stuart with a simple tap-in.

Parsley played Simon Parke in the centre of defence alongside Nathan Hay and cited the converted striker as one of the reasons that his side did not concede.

"With Jacko and Dave in possession of the shirts in the attack I slotted Si in at the back for his experience and know-how.

"It helps him get his match fitness back after missing three games."
