With a superb performance, Eric Stone, of Keighley, has finished tenth in the world professional cyclo-cross championship near Padua, Italy. It was the best performance by a British rider since 1972. The title was won for a third successive year by Swiss rider Albert Zweifel, by a massive 4 min 3 sec margin over his fellow countryman Gilles Blaser.

Ambulances of Bradford Health Department will be fitted with two-way radios at a cost of over £3,000, if a recommendation of the Health Committee is approved. The department has had radios fitted to some ambulances, and after a trial period was very satisfied with the results. If the recommendation is accepted by the City Council, 25 vehicles would be fitted with radio communication.
